June 30, 2023

Forge Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2005. It offers the Tu Futuro Program to young people from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. The foundation seeks to economically vulnerable young people access a quality life through work, continuous learning and commitment to the community. To achieve this, they offer those who participate to go through an experience that allows them to develop their best version and train fundamental skills to enter the labor market, plan their life project and achieve their goals. Since 2021, the foundation has included in its stimulus strategy the use of digital badges to recognize the skills and achievements of its young beneficiaries.

What were the challenges?

At first, the foundation delivered diplomas in paper format, but with the pandemic, the courses became 100% online, so They had to adapt the program to digital changes. Furthermore, the objective was for economically vulnerable young people to access a quality life through work, continuous learning and commitment to the community.

Why did you decide to use Digital Badges?

The foundation decided to use digital badges to recognize the effort that young people made during the program and validate the skills they acquired. These badges allowed them to share on social networks and position themselves from that place, demonstrating that they had developed certain skills validated by the foundation.

How has its implementation been?

The foundation transformed the program to work on socio-emotional skills necessary for the labor market, and created different levels for the participants. Each level has a badge that young people receive for the skill most worked on at that level. Besides, The foundation provides job intermediation with companies that trust the organization.
