Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation: a case of recognition in the health sector

April 18, 2024

The Organization

La Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation is a private social entity whose mission is to lead and positively influence the health sector and contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities. The Education and Knowledge Management Axis, through its Continuing Education area, has an interdisciplinary team, which, together with a solid network of allies, allows it to offer professionals in the health sector more than 200 annual academic spaces to strengthen knowledge in more than 40 medical specialties.

What were the challenges?

With the arrival of the pandemic in 2020, the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation was forced to rethink its event and certification model, going from in-person to virtual. This sudden change created the challenge of finding an effective way to recognize attendee engagement and achievement in a digital environment. Previously, printed certificates were awarded at the end of events, but the transition to virtual required a more agile and effective solution.

Why did you decide to use Digital Badges?

Given the need to adapt to the digital environment and offer more significant recognition, the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation chose to implement Digital Badges. This decision was based on the search for a solution that offered more dynamic and easily shareable recognition in the digital world. The Digital Badges not only represented a certification of attendance, but also added value to the participants’ resumes and allowed them to stand out in their professional field.

How has its implementation been?

The implementation of the Digital Badges took place in 2022, marking an important milestone in the digital transformation of the Foundation. It began with the issuance of 5.000 badges for high-value and recognition events, aimed mainly at health professionals. Through careful planning and internal and external communication strategies, the initial challenge of resistance to change on the part of the participants was overcome. They focused on educating their audience about the importance and benefits of these digital credentials, thus creating a virtuous cycle of recognition and engagement.

What results have they obtained?

The adoption of Digital Badges proved to be a resounding success for the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation. In a short period of time, they managed to significantly increase the participation and recognition of attendees at their events, thanks to internal marketing campaigns. This increase reflects the value that participants place on these digital credentials and their desire to share them as a badge of their professional career.
