MindHub and digital credentials: a winning combination when looking for your first job

The company

mindhub is an EdTech startup that specializes in train people in the field of technology. At the same time, it promotes gender equality in the technology industry. Their unique learning method, called Bootcamps, combines intensive learning with on-the-job experience. They have a platform, an academic team and work with agile methodologies. MindHub focuses on helping students find your first job and/or advance your technology career. The startup operates in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and remotely in other Latin American countries. By 2022, MindHub has accumulated 2500 graduates, 1 million hours of study and a high employability rate. They also opted for digital accreditation to be in line with their technological approach. This is the case of MinHub and Digital Badges:

What were the challenges?

The need was identified for accredit the knowledge acquired by students in a reliable and reliable manner. As a company that operates remotely and synchronously, this became especially important for the startup and the ecosystem of companies in which it is located. For this reason, the decision was made to manage a form of recognition that is also digital fully aligned with the technological nature of the initiative and the programs taught.

Why did you decide to use Digital Badges?

After considering several options, the decision was made to pursue a technology-based accreditation method, as it was considered the fundamental basis for ensuring the reliability and verifiability of this knowledge. Furthermore, it was considered that for students who are about to graduate, having a digital badge that accurately and objectively reflects the effort and commitment they have dedicated to their training was of great value and usefulness.

How has its implementation been?

The implementation of digital badges has been a fairly positive process, without major inconveniences. Most of those taking the programs are young, which has made it easier to adopt and spread their badge achievements. This, in turn, has allowed better use of this digital certification. In addition, MindHub has identified several advantages in the use of these digital badges, one of which is the metadata of the badge, as they believe that it provides enough space and detail to reflect both the technical and interpersonal skills that are necessary to insert themselves in the digital world of work.

What results have they obtained?

Starting in February 2021, the use of digital badges was implemented and there has been continued growth in adoption since then. To date, a total of 680 digital badges have been issued, with an acceptance rate of 95% among students and 91% of the badges issued have been shared on employment platforms. The use of these digital badges has allowed better visibility of the effort and commitment of students during their training. This has contributed to improving the employment possibilities of graduates.
