How Acreditta works in Moodle

Now the external tool has been configured in the Moodle environment. In this section, we detail the steps for including Acreditta credentials in each new course and how instructors can issue credentials or students can claim them.

1. Add Credit to a Course

  • Enter the course created in Moodle
  • Select option “Actividad o Recurso/Actividad or resource”
  • Click on “External tool”

❔ If the option does not appear in the list of resources, you must enter the option “More” and then to the option “LTI External Tools” and activate the option to show it in the resource list:

  • In the countryside ‘Activity name’ assign a name to the tool
  • Select the External Tool preconfigured above
  • Click on ‘Save changes and return to course’
  • Click on the external tool you just created
  • On the new screen that appears, click ‘Add credential’

In the search engine that will appear on the screen, choose the credential you want to add and click ‘Add to course’

Once you’ve added the credentials, the associated rules will be displayed. If any of the rules are optional, the teacher will have the option to edit or delete them. Additionally, you will also be able to add additional rules if necessary.

After adding the credentials, click ‘Return’. You will see a list showing all the credentials associated with the course. From here, you will have the option to issue credentials, configure and edit them according to your needs.

Once you have configured the external tool, you can make additional adjustments to the course. If you want the credential to be issued upon completion of a specific course task, you must make the following configuration.

  • Click on the tab ‘More/More’ and select the option ‘Course completion’
  • On the new screen click on the option ‘Condition: Activity completion/Condition: Activity completion’
  • Select the activity you want and click the button ‘Save Changes’

2. Visualization for the teacher

During the program, the instructor can access the course module and trigger the generation or issuance of credentials to students who already meet the established rules and are eligible to receive them. To issue credentials, simply click on ‘Issue Credentials’ (Green button within the Options section.) In the second icon, you can configure or edit the rules, and in the third option, you can delete the credential.

3. Visualization for the student

To get started, log in to Moodle and access the corresponding course. Once inside, go to the section ‘External Tool’ of the course. Here you will find a space where you can view the credentials that you have obtained in the course and that the teachers have issued in recognition of your achievements and participation. In addition, you will have the ability to claim credentials that have not yet been issued by the teacher, which allows you to autonomously manage your certificates and recognitions.
