Field mapping and bulk issuance (Canvas)

Once the external tool is connected, add Acreditta to a Canvas course and associate a credential template. From there you can map course fields and issue credentials for the whole course at once.

Add a template and its issuance rules

Inside the course, go into the Acreditta app in the course menu (it appears under the name you gave the Developer Key). You’ll see the list of templates already associated with the course, with the option to add a new one:

Click + Add template. You’ll configure:

  • Credential: the credential template you want to associate with this course.
  • Evaluate: the criterion the rule is evaluated against. The options are: Course completed, Final course grade (percentage), Grade per activity (percentage), Final course grade, Percentage of activities submitted, Percentage of activities done (includes non-gradable ones).
  • Operator: how that criterion is compared against the value you set — Less than, Less than or equal to, Equal to, Greater than, Greater than or equal to.
  • Value: the threshold the criterion is evaluated against (for example, 80 if the criterion is a grade or percentage).

You can add several rules to the same template — a student must meet all of them to be eligible.

🔎 Note: these same rules are shown in the template’s table inside the course, along with how many rules each one has associated.

Bulk issuance from the instructor

When the instructor clicks Issue credentials for a course with many students enrolled, Acreditta processes the issuance in the background instead of making you wait with a loading page:

  1. You see a progress bar while the batch is processed.
  2. When it finishes, a table appears with the result per student, with filter chips (All / Issued / Not eligible / Error / Already issued) and a search box by name or email.
  3. You can export the full result to CSV.

⚠️ Important: if you reload the page while the issuance is still in progress, Acreditta automatically resumes tracking the progress. But if you reload after the batch has already finished, the detailed results table won’t show again — it’s only available during the same session in which the issuance completed. Keep this in mind if you need to keep the detail: export the CSV before leaving the page.

What each status in the table means

Status What happened
Issued The credential was issued successfully.
Not eligible The student doesn’t meet one of the issuance rules configured for the template.
Error Something failed while issuing for that specific student — the detail includes the exact message.
Already issued That student already had the credential issued previously; it isn’t duplicated.

🔎 Note: students in “Already issued” status don’t count as an error — Acreditta simply avoids issuing the same credential twice.
