Email Sending Domain Configuration

Setting up domain authentication is a critical step when setting up your Twilio SendGrid account. This process is essential to ensuring optimal email deliverability. Domain authentication not only improves email delivery rates but also increases trust with both email inbox providers and your recipients.

Manual setup

  • In the side menu navigate to ⚙️Settings > Mail Settings
  • In the first tab configure domain add your organization’s domain without the www. For example midominio.edu.co
  • By clicking on + Add a domain The screen will show you the DNS records you need to add with your DNS hosting provider. You’ll see an MX record and two TXT records.
  • Next, add these records to your DNS provider. This process varies depending on your DNS host. Consult your host’s documentation for details on how to work with their interfaces.
  • Once you add the DNS records to your domain, return to the Acreditta application user interface and click on Check Records Depending on your DNS provider, you may need to wait up to 48 hours for the record to propagate.
  • You should now see the records successfully verified.
  • If only half of your records are verified, you’ll likely need to wait a little longer. It’s also possible that you entered one of your records incorrectly.
  • Now you must customize the email address that will be used to send notifications, as well as the sender. If the email address you want to use doesn’t have an inbox, we recommend using the word no-reply so that accredited individuals know that they should not reply to the email.

⚠️ Important

GoDaddy, Amazon Route 53, and Namecheap, among other providers, automatically add your domain to their new DNS record values, resulting in a CNAME entry that fails verification. For example, if your domain is example.com and Acreditta’s CNAME host value is em123.example.com, the incorrect record will become em123.example.com.example.com.

You can fix this problem by pasting only the subdomain section of the host value, em123, in your DNS provider’s host field. You don’t need to modify the record value. Be sure to check your CNAME for this behavior if your domain doesn’t initially validate.
