Create a digital certificate

Use Digital certificate to recognize formal academic certifications and achievements of short or medium duration (diplomas, certifications, courses with assessment). Complete the metadata described below; only fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

Basic information

🔎 Note: watch the character counter on Description — running short here is the most common reason a certificate “says nothing” when someone reviews it on LinkedIn.

  • Name (*): concise, direct, and clear about the accreditation that originates the credential.
    Example: Project Management Certification.
  • Description (*): describes the earner’s profile as a result of completing the accreditation. Maximum 500 characters. It’s suggested to start with: “The credential holder is able to…” and summarize what they know how to do as a result of the accreditation.
Example: The credential holder understands the importance of project management and has a general knowledge of the SCRUM methodology. They are able to guide a team through the SCRUM sprint cycle, assigning roles, tasks, and responsibilities for product development.
  • Certificate code: unique alphanumeric code that identifies the recognition to be granted.

Detail and evidence

  • Skills: skills the earner developed. You can add several. Type a few letters and the catalog will suggest related options; click to insert them. If a specific skill doesn’t exist, type it in full and press ENTER. Use 2-3 keywords per skill.
Example: creativity, ideation, brainstorming — instead of “using different methodologies to generate ideas as a team”.
  • Requirements (*): what the earner had to meet to obtain the credential. Write them starting with a verb in the infinitive. Click Add requirement to add and the trash icon to remove.
Example: Complete at least 80% of the course, Pass the exam with a grade above 7/10, Present an application project evaluated with a grade above 15/20.
  • Standards: legal, educational, methodological, corporate, regional, or international frameworks the credential is based on. For each standard, complete the name and a public link. Use Add standard / trash icon to manage the list.
    Example: PMBOK version 7 — https://www.pmi.org/pmbok-guide-standards/foundational/pmbok
  • More information: link to a public space with information about the program that originated the accreditation (course, event, or organizing company). Drives traffic to your organization when the earner shares their credential and a third party reviews the details.

Administration options

  • Credential language: the language of the earner’s experience (Spanish, English, or Portuguese). The earner receives notifications in that language — that’s why the metadata should be written in the same language you choose here.
  • Tags: credential categories according to your organization’s recognition map.
Example: Continuing Education, Faculty Training, Institutional Recognitions, School of Innovation. Type and press ENTER to add; click the trash icon to remove.
  • How to earn this credential?: phone number, email, or link so an interested person can get in touch and register for the program that leads to this credential.
  • Allow multiple issuances of this credential to the same earner: enable this if you need to issue the same recognition more than once to the same email (for example, a certification that renews every year).

Publish or save

  1. Create certificate — creates the credential and leaves it ready to issue.
  2. Save as draft — saves your progress so you can keep editing. You won’t be able to issue with it until you publish it.
