Test mode issuance

Before issuing a real credential, you can issue it in test mode to check how it looks, what information it carries, and how the earner would receive it, without it becoming a permanent record in your account.

How to turn it on

In Individual sending, next to the Grant credential button, there’s a dropdown arrow. Open it and select Issue test credential.

⚠️ Important: this option is only available for individual sending. If you need to test the format before a bulk issuance, first issue an individual test with the same template.

Clicking it opens a notice with the test mode conditions:

• It’s not saved to the blockchain and isn’t indexed by Google.
• It’s automatically deleted after 3 days.
• It only reaches administrators — it isn’t sent as a real notification to third parties.
• You can have a maximum of 10 active test credentials at the same time (the “Active tests: X/10” counter tells you how much room you have left).

Confirm with Continue in test mode to issue it.

How to identify a test credential

In Issued credentials, a test credential’s row is marked with the orange Test tag next to the earner’s name:

The acceptance page the earner would receive also shows a permanent notice at the top, both before and after accepting the credential:

🔎 Note: this notice doesn’t disappear once the credential is accepted — it’s how anyone who sees the link (including the earner themselves, if you decide to share it with them) knows it isn’t a credential valid for actual use.

About the blockchain record

Even though the notice states that the test credential “isn’t saved to the blockchain,” the Verification Details panel for that same credential may keep showing the “Registering on Blockchain…” status indefinitely:

🔎 Note: this spinner isn’t a bug on your end or the platform’s — it’s expected that it never finishes, precisely because test credentials aren’t registered on the blockchain. Don’t take it as a failed issuance.

After the 3 days

Once that period passes, Acreditta automatically deletes the test credential. You don’t need to revoke or delete it manually, and it doesn’t use up your account’s licenses or issuance quota.
