Earner correction suggestions

This feature lets the earner flag, from their own acceptance screen, if some piece of their credential’s data is wrong — before accepting it — instead of having to write to you through another channel. You decide whether to turn it on.

Turning it on for your organization

It’s off by default. To enable it:

  1. Go to Settings → Account options.
  2. Turn on the “Allow the earner to suggest changes to their personal information from the credential acceptance screen” switch.

While it’s off, the earner sees no option to suggest changes — instead, the acceptance screen invites them to contact your organization directly by email if something is wrong.

What the earner sees

On the acceptance screen (“Accept your credential information”), in addition to the accept button, the option “Suggest a correction to my data” appears:

Clicking it opens a form where they edit the fields they need corrected (first name, last name, ID, recognition date, expiration date) and can add an optional reason:

The earner can only suggest changes to their own identity data configured on the template. They cannot suggest changes to your organization’s name, the credential’s description, or any other internal data.

What happens when the earner submits the suggestion

  1. The credential automatically changes to In review status — the earner can’t accept it while it’s in this status, and in your Issued credentials list you can tell it apart from the rest by that purple tag.

  1. No confirmation email is sent to the earner at this step (they only see the on-screen confirmation).

The earner can suggest a correction more than once, as long as the credential goes back to pending status (for example, if you reject the previous suggestion). There’s no limit on attempts.

How you review and respond to a suggestion

  1. Go to Digital credentials → Issued credentials and filter by In review status.
  2. Click the corresponding icon to open “Review correction request” — there you’ll see a table comparing Before vs. After (suggested) with the specific field the earner wants to change.

  1. You have three options:
Action What happens Email to the earner
Approve The credential moves straight to Accepted with the corrected data — the earner doesn’t have to accept it again, they receive an email with a direct link to their already-accepted credential. Yes, always
Reject (with a reason) The credential goes back to Pending, without applying the suggested change. Yes, always — includes the reason you entered
Update issuance (edit it yourself) If you’d rather correct the data your own way instead of approving exactly what the earner suggested, you can edit the credential directly (see Updating an issued credential) — this automatically discards the suggestion. Yes, always (without showing the reason)

In any of the three cases, the earner receives an email — they’re never left not knowing what happened with their request. Every decision (approved or rejected, with the reason if you entered one) is saved in the credential’s edit history.

Daily reminder for credentials in review

If you have credentials piling up in In review status, you receive a daily summary email with the list of those that have gone a full day unresolved, and a direct link to review them all. You can turn off this specific email from your Notification center — even if you turn it off, you’ll still see the notice inside the platform.
